Cut Loose

Genre: Comedy
Length: 111 minutes
Location: England

When the shy, timid William Miles (25) travels from the USA to England on a lecturer exchange program he didn’t expect his world to be turned so upside down. He moves in next door to Irish, washed up writer and alcoholic Tom Hall (50), famous for one great book written back in the seventies and who now spends his time listening to punk music and drinking. Tom quickly befriends William, not out of genuine affection but more so he can borrow money off him and get him to drive him around town.

When Tom falls foul of local loan shark, Tony, he is given the task of picking up a ‘package’ to help pay off the debt. Tom soon convinces William to drive him there especially when William confesses he is half-English and his father, who he has not seen since boyhood, lives there. Tom persuades William that the time is right to visit his father and re-establish some kind of relationship.

Cut Loose is a comedy about two individuals who, through an odd journey together, discover themselves.
